Ford wins in Le Mans 24 Hour GTE Pro category!

Though folks around here may have missed it, there was some major news out of France this past week, as Ford claimed the top spot on the podium in the grueling Le Mans 24 Hour. This represents a huge win not only for Ford's racing team, but also for the dedicated staff of engineers who made this possible.

For those who don't know, the Le Mans 24 Hour is highly regarded as one of the toughest races in the world. Similar to America's Daytona 24, teams of drivers must race for 24 hours around the circuit in Le Mans, France, paying careful attention to both speed, handling, and wear on their vehicles. It is considered not only a challenge for the drivers who have to maintain high speeds over long periods of time, but also for the engineers of the vehicles who have to ensure that their prototypes can operate at peak efficiency for equally long times. Ford's entry to this year's race was the Ford GT prototype, which came in first in the GTE Pro class after a fierce battle with Ferarri's entrant.

This win marks Ford's first victory since 1966 in this prestigious race and it reaffirms Ford's status as one of the world's premier makers of durable performance vehicles.
