2024 Ford Explorer Is a Smart Pick for Families

Every Ford Explorer relies on a 10-speed automatic transmission for gear shifts. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trims except for the Timberline model, with all-wheel drive offered as an option — the Timberline trim is only available with all-wheel drive. 

Cabin Space 

New Ford SUVs are well-known for being roomy, and that’s certainly what the Ford Explorer is – spacious. The SUV can accommodate six or seven passengers depending on the configuration of its middle row. Travelers in the front row have 43 inches of legroom while passengers in the second and third rows have 39 and 32.2 inches, respectively. 

Behind the third row, you’ll have 18.2 cubic feet to stow gear, groceries, or both. Folding the third row frees up 47.9 cubic feet of cargo room. If you fold both the second and third rows, the SUV’s cargo capacity skyrockets to 87.8 cubic feet.
